Complete vocal control for singing guitarists on stage
The Boss VE-500 Vocal Performer is designed for musicians who sing and play guitar, giving vocal processing the same level of control normally reserved for pedalboard effects. Vocal harmonies and pitch correction are generated in real time by tracking the chords played on the connected guitar, producing harmonies that follow key changes naturally rather than sounding fixed or synthetic. This approach keeps backing vocals musically locked to the song, even in complex arrangements.
The VE-500 processes up to nine vocal effects at once, combining core tone shaping with reverb, delay, modulation and more specialised effects. A dedicated Enhance section allows control over dynamics and clarity before ambience and creative processing are added. Flexible internal routing lets live vocals and harmonies be processed together or separately, which is especially useful when balancing lead and backing parts in a live mix.
The integrated vocoder uses guitar input to shape electronic vocal textures and talk box style effects without additional hardware. XLR mic input with phantom power and stereo XLR outputs allow direct connection to a PA, while the guitar thru output keeps the guitar signal untouched for the rest of the pedalboard.
At Riffs & Licks Music, we think the Boss VE-500 is ideal for singing guitarists who want harmonies, pitch control and creative vocal effects that respond directly to their playing, making complex vocal arrangements practical and reliable on stage.
