Hybrid Guitars

Hybrid guitars are a relatively new concept in the guitar world; they take a mix of features from both electric guitars and acoustic guitars and combine them into one instrument. Often, they will aesthetically resemble an acoustic guitar, will play like an electric guitar, and depening on the electronics and pickups, will either sound like something in-between or be capable of producing both traditional acoustic and electric guitar tones. These guitars are often used by gigging musicians who would otherwise need to bring both an acoustic and an electric guitar to their gigs. Some excellent examples are the Fender Acoustasonic series, which feature both an acoustic undersaddle pickup, and a magnetic pickup designed by Tim Shaw.
