The RV-500 runs 32-bit AD/DA with 32-bit floating point processing at 96 kHz, which supports clean reverb detail and stable dynamics when stacking effects or running stereo. Twelve modes and 21 reverb algorithms cover everything from practical room, hall, plate, and spring sounds to more engineered textures such as shimmer, non-linear, and SFX types. Each algorithm includes detailed parameters such as decay, density, modulation, EQ, and ducking, so the reverb can be shaped to sit behind dry signal or become the main event.

Unlike simpler reverbs which can only run a single ambience at a time, the Boss RV-500 can run two reverbs at once via Dual mode or A/B Simul, allowing layered spaces or split routing in series or parallel. Every patch also includes an independent digital delay with modulation and EQ, which reduces the need for separate ambience chaining when building a cohesive wet signal. Carryover lets reverb tails continue through bypass or patch changes, keeping transitions smooth in live sets.
