Add Four Flexible Effects Without Rebuilding the Pedalboard You Already Use
The Boss EX-4 Effects Expander is designed to slot into an existing guitar or bass pedalboard and add a much wider effects palette without replacing the pedals you already rely on. It offers 120 effects spanning overdrive, distortion, modulation, delay, reverb and bass-specific processing, with up to four effects running at once — including multiple instances of the same type.
Dedicated utility blocks add two noise suppressors, foot volume, send/return, divider/mixer and global EQ without using those four main effect slots. The send/return can also place external pedals inside the EX-4 signal chain, letting you build series, parallel and wet/dry configurations rather than simply putting the unit at one fixed point on your board.
Gear Suite speeds up programming by giving each effect a selection of ready-tuned parameter combinations that you can call up with a knob, then edit and save if required. Manual mode works more like individual stompboxes, while Memory mode accesses 128 user and 128 preset memories. A 2.4-inch colour display, dual assignable footswitches, stereo I/O and TRS MIDI support live control.
