An Expanded Nitro Pro Setup with Four Toms, Four Zildjian Cymbals and Authentic Zildjian Sounds
The Alesis x Zildjian Nitro Pro XL expands the Nitro Pro platform with a fourth tom and second crash (compared to the Nitro Pro), giving you more room for fills, larger kit layouts and more involved practice sessions. The reinforced steel rack uses full-size spacing and notched adjustments, helping the kit feel less cramped while making it easier to return to a consistent setup.
The playing surfaces include a 10" dual-zone deep mesh snare and four 8" dual-zone mesh toms, giving you a six-piece drum layout when combined with the kick tower. The 8" mesh kick tower supports double-kick pedals, while the quiet mesh heads let you put in longer practice sessions without the acoustic volume of a traditional kit.
Four 10" Zildjian-branded cymbal pads comprise a hi-hat, ride with choke and two crashes with choke. The module complements them with authentic Zildjian sounds captured from cymbals in the Zildjian Artist Vault, alongside 36 factory kits, 16 user kit locations and 551 drum, cymbal, percussion and SFX sounds.
Bluetooth and aux input make it easy to play along with music or lessons, while USB/MIDI, MIDI in and out, stereo outputs and headphone monitoring cover recording, software instruments and quiet practice. The included Zildjian Session Mix Vol. 1 expansion adds further Zildjian cymbal sounds and bubinga drums for use with BFD Player on Mac or PC.
At Riffs & Licks Music, we think the Nitro Pro XL Zildjian Edition is particularly well suited to drummers who want more room to grow than the standard Nitro Pro provides. The addition of a fourth tom and second crash expands the playing surface for bigger fills, more elaborate kit layouts and setups that more closely resemble larger acoustic kits.

Q1 - What is the Alesis x Zildjian Nitro Pro XL?
The Alesis x Zildjian Nitro Pro XL is a 10-piece electronic drum kit that builds on the Nitro Pro with an extra tom and crash cymbal for a more expansive playing setup. You get a 10-inch dual-zone mesh snare, four 8-inch dual-zone mesh toms, an 8-inch mesh kick tower compatible with double kick pedals, and four Zildjian-branded 10-inch cymbal pads. The steel rack provides plenty of room to arrange everything comfortably, while the Nitro Pro XL module offers 52 factory and user kits with over 500 drum and percussion sounds, including authentic Zildjian cymbal samples.
Q2 - Does the Alesis Nitro Pro XL feature genuine Zildjian cymbal sounds?
Yes. The Nitro Pro XL module includes authentic Zildjian cymbal sounds, bringing the character of Zildjian cymbals to your electronic kit. You also receive the Zildjian Session Mix Vol. 1 expansion for BFD Player, featuring detailed recordings of real cymbals selected from the Zildjian Artist Vault. Connect your kit to a Mac or PC and you can access these additional sounds through BFD Player, giving you an even broader selection of cymbal tones for playing and recording.
Q3 - What are the differences between the Alesis Nitro Pro and Nitro Pro XL?
The main difference is the size of the kit. The Nitro Pro XL adds a fourth 8-inch dual-zone mesh tom and a second crash cymbal, giving you more surfaces to work with when playing fills, building grooves, and arranging your setup. You'll also have three cymbal pads with choke functionality. Both kits use the same Nitro Pro sound module, with 52 factory and user kits, over 500 sounds, Bluetooth audio, and authentic Zildjian cymbal samples. They also share the same double-kick-compatible bass drum tower and included software, so the XL is primarily about having more drums and cymbals at your disposal.
Q4 - Is the Alesis Nitro Pro XL suitable for beginners and experienced drummers?
Absolutely. The Nitro Pro XL is a solid choice if you're learning drums and want a kit with room to develop, but it's equally useful for more experienced players looking for a larger electronic setup at home. The additional tom and crash open up more options for fills and cymbal placement, giving you a layout closer to an expanded acoustic kit. There's also a built-in metronome, 60 play-along tracks, and a performance recorder to help you work on your timing and technique. A 90-day Drumeo subscription is included too, providing structured lessons to keep you progressing.
Q5 - Can I use a double kick pedal with the Alesis Nitro Pro XL?
Yes. The Nitro Pro XL features an 8-inch mesh bass drum tower designed to accommodate a double kick pedal, so you can practise double bass patterns and develop your footwork without replacing the kick pad. A single kick pedal is included, allowing you to start playing straight away and upgrade to your preferred double pedal whenever you're ready.
Q6 - Can I practise quietly and play along with music on the Nitro Pro XL?
Yes. The Nitro Pro XL's mesh drumheads produce considerably less acoustic noise than traditional drumheads, while the headphone output lets you hear your playing without running it through external speakers. Bluetooth audio and a 3.5 mm auxiliary input also let you play along with music, backing tracks, and drum lessons from your phone or tablet. You'll hear everything together through your headphones, and the built-in mobile device holder keeps your screen within easy reach while you practise.
Q7 - Can I connect the Alesis Nitro Pro XL to a computer for recording?
Yes. Connect the Nitro Pro XL to your Mac or PC via USB MIDI and you can record your performances as MIDI data in compatible recording software. This lets you edit your playing, arrange drum parts, and trigger virtual drum instruments using the kit's pads. Traditional MIDI In and Out connections are also available for external MIDI equipment. You also get BFD Player with the Core Library, Dark Mahogany, and Zildjian Session Mix Vol. 1 expansions, giving you additional drum and cymbal sounds to explore when recording or producing music.
