Outstanding valueBy: Paul on 8 March 2026I'm a guitar guy that just wanted a cheap bass to lay down a few bass lines on my looper so wasn't interested in spending much on a bass. I bought one of these in 2022 and have been blown away by it. It's quality materials and a quality build. Its a comfortable playing weight, the pickups sound great to me. It holds tune very well. In fact I didn't touch it for a couple of years and when I picked it up it was still in tune. It might have been inexpensive but I don't see it as cheap. I see this as a quality instrument and it happily sits on the wall next to my Fender American pro Strat and Tele. I just don't think you can go wrong with Yamaha. I never understand why they are not a bigger name in guitars because they make some outstanding instruments. Anyway, if you are looking to learn bass for not much money, or just want something to lay down a few bass lines, or want something you can throw around at your punk gig and not worry about beer bottles being smashed on it, grab one of these, you won't regret it!
