Yamaha CG142C Solid Top Classical Nylon String Acoustic Guitar Natural

Solid Cedar Warmth with Traditional Classical Playability

The Yamaha CG142C is a traditional nylon-string classical guitar built around a solid Western red cedar top, giving it a warm, responsive voice with a strong treble presence and a mature character straight away. Nato back and sides support that sound with a balanced acoustic foundation, while the gloss body finish keeps the presentation clean and understated.

The Nato neck has a matte finish that lets your fretting hand move smoothly without feeling sticky, paired with a flat rosewood fingerboard and a 52 mm (2 1/16") nut. The 650 mm (25 9/16") scale keeps the feel firmly in traditional classical territory, with plenty of room for fingerstyle technique and chord work.

Yamaha’s revised bracing pattern and thinner bridge plate are designed to transfer string vibration efficiently into the top, helping the guitar respond quickly while maintaining rich resonance. The saddle and saddle slot are also shaped for a precise fit, reducing vibration loss and supporting clearer attack and sustain.

At Riffs & Licks Music, we think the CG142C is a strong choice for players who want the warmer, quicker response of a solid cedar top in an affordable classical guitar. Its traditional dimensions, flat fingerboard and comfortable matte-finished neck make it equally suitable for developing players and more experienced nylon-string guitarists.
