A Bigger Dark Crash Voice with Quick Decay and Controlled Wash

The Meinl HCS18DAC HCS Dark 18" Dark Crash Cymbal gives you a broader crash response while keeping the sustain deliberately short. The cymbal opens with a punchy accent, then drops away quickly enough to keep the next part of the groove clear, making it useful when you want the spread of an 18" crash without a long wash hanging underneath.

Its medium weight, low-mid pitch and mid-dark timbre give the cymbal a darker overall character, while the harmonical, defined response helps the attack retain shape. With medium-to-low volume, it can add size to rock and pop accents without becoming overly dominant in the mix.

The HCS Dark series is made in Germany from MS63 brass alloy. This model uses a lathe-formed profile, wide-blade lathing and Pressure Point Technology, finished in the series’ distinctive Dark treatment. It can also be paired with other HCS crash sizes to build contrasting crash voices around the kit.
