Hagstrom’s Impalas exactly reproduce the pickups included with the first production models in the early 1960’s. A single, massive AlNi-Co-5 magnet fills each of the pickups, a radical departure from the typical approach of placing one small cylindrical magnet under each string. The resulting sound is bright and percussive with a robust mid-range; a true and authentic voice for anyone looking to the early 1960’s for sonic inspiration.

A Resinator Wood fingerboard provides comfortable playability for hours on end - Resinator Wood is a wood composite that has a stable, clear and articulate tone similar to Ebony. Hagstrom's H-Expander truss rod runs the full length of the neck, providing plenty of stability, and adding a round attack and even greater sustain. In combination with the trustworthy long travel Tune-O-Matic roller bridge and a Graphtech Black TUSQ XL nut, the re-engineered Vintage Tremar vibrato unit keeps the appearance of the original model, while tremendously improving upon its functionality, with smooth vibrato action and great tuning stability. An improved switching array maintains the look and function of the originals while incorporating modern, dependable, and ergonomic slide switches.
