Since its introduction in the '60s, the H-II has been one of Hagstrom's most innovative instruments, inspiring countless professional and aspiring musicians worldwide, especially those in the punk and grunge scenes. Compared to the original, the H-II RetroScape features a more comfortable, rounded profile for its Canadian Maple neck. The switching array, while maintaining the vintage look and functionality of the original, incorporates modern ergonomic slide switching. The 6-in-line machine heads and Vintage Tremar vibrato unit also maintain the look of the originals, while some design elements have been updated to ensure solid and reliable tuning stability. 

A Resinator Wood fingerboard provides comfortable playability for hours on end - Resinator Wood is a wood composite that has a stable, clear and articulate tone similar to Ebony. Hagstrom's H-Expander truss rod runs the full length of the neck, providing plenty of stability, and adding a round attack and even greater sustain. An American Alder body creates a perfect tonal foundation for a duo of Hagstrom's Ceramic C-Spin single coil pickups. Combined with the switching array, these versatile pickups are perfect for everything from convincingly '60s tones, to bright Strat-like tones, and Tele-esque twang. The switching array features two On/Off switches (one for each pickup), as well as a Master Tone On/Off, and Mute switch. The Master TOne On/Off switch adds some extra fatness to your pickups, while the Mute switch acts similarly to a trumpet mute, creating darker, more muddy tones. In combination, the H-II easily creates the kind of punk, grunge, thrash and old lo-fi blues tones that the original was so renowned for.
