Warm, Punchy J-45 Tone with a Heritage Cherry Sunburst Finish

The Gibson J-45 Standard HiFi DNA in Heritage Cherry Sunburst brings together the familiar round-shoulder dreadnought shape with a solid Sitka spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, and traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing. Its acoustic character is full and balanced, with warm mids, tight bass and enough projection to carry a vocal accompaniment or fill out a rhythm part without becoming boomy.

The SlimTaper mahogany neck keeps the profile relatively lean through the hand, while the 628.65 mm (24.75") scale contributes to a slightly softer string feel than a 647.7 mm (25.5") scale. The rosewood fingerboard has a 304.8 mm (12") radius, 20 standard frets and simple mother-of-pearl dot inlays. A black TUSQ nut works alongside the TUSQ saddle and bridge pins, traditional rosewood belly-up bridge and Grover Rotomatic tuners with kidney buttons.

Rather than sensing the strings from beneath the saddle, the Baggs HiFi DNA system places two lightweight sensors on the internal bridge plate. Each sensor runs through its own custom-voiced Class A preamp before the signals are combined, allowing the system to pick up more of the guitar’s soundboard movement as well as the strings themselves. That helps the amplified sound retain the difference between lighter picking, controlled chord work and heavier strumming. Volume and tone are adjusted from controls mounted inside the soundhole.
