Warm 12-Fret Jumbo Response in a Left-Handed Vintage Sunburst Build

The Gibson J-185 Century 12-Fret Left-Handed reworks the J-185 jumbo format around a 12th-fret neck joint, placing the bridge closer to the widest area of the body. That change helps the Sitka Spruce top respond efficiently, producing a warm, punchy and resonant voice that reacts particularly well to fingerstyle playing and a lighter picking attack.

The Mahogany back and sides are matched with a Mahogany SlimTaper neck and bound Rosewood fingerboard. Its 628.7 mm (24.75") scale, 304.8 mm (12") radius and 19 standard frets give the neck a familiar Gibson feel, while the 12-fret layout brings the body closer for a comfortable seated playing position. The Satin Vintage Sunburst finish uses thin nitrocellulose lacquer and is framed by single-ply top and back binding. A Rosewood rectangle bridge, bone nut and saddle, Golden Age tuners, TUSQ bridge pins and tortoiseshell teardrop pickguard complete the appointments. A Century Series tweed hardshell case is included.
