12-Fret Jumbo Response with a Warm, Dynamic Voice

The Gibson J-185 Century 12-Fret reworks the classic J-185 format around a 12th-fret neck joint, moving the bridge further from the waist and closer to the widest area of the body. This lets the Sitka Spruce top respond efficiently, producing a warm, punchy and resonant voice that reacts particularly well to fingerstyle playing and a lighter picking attack.

The Mahogany back and sides are paired with a Mahogany SlimTaper neck and bound Rosewood fingerboard. Its 628.7 mm (24.75") scale, 304.8 mm (12") radius and 19 standard frets give it a familiar Gibson feel, while the 12-fret joint brings the body closer to you when seated. Vintage-inspired details include a Rosewood rectangle bridge, Golden Age tuners, bone nut and saddle, TUSQ bridge pins, tortoiseshell teardrop pickguard and early-style Gibson script logo. The Vintage Amber finish uses thin satin nitrocellulose lacquer. A Century Series tweed hardshell case is included.
