Warm 12-Fret Jumbo Response with a Striking Satin Ebony Finish

The Gibson J-185 Century 12-Fret puts a distinctive spin on the classic J-185 format, pairing a Sitka Spruce top with Mahogany back and sides and moving the neck joint to the 12th fret. This shifts the bridge closer to the widest part of the body, helping the top respond more efficiently for a warm, punchy and resonant voice that reacts especially well to fingerstyle playing and lighter picking.

The Mahogany neck uses a SlimTaper profile and joins the body with a dovetail joint secured with hot hide glue. A bound Rosewood fingerboard, 304.8 mm (12") radius, 19 standard frets and 628.7 mm (24.75") scale give the neck a familiar Gibson feel while the 12-fret layout makes the guitar comfortable to hold and play.

The Satin Ebony nitrocellulose lacquer finish is framed by single-ply top and back binding, with a Rosewood rectangle bridge, bone nut and saddle, TUSQ bridge pins, Golden Age tuners, and tortoiseshell teardrop pickguard completing the traditional appointments. A Century Series tweed hardshell case is included.
