Add a Genuine ’70s C Profile and Three-Bolt Feel
This Fender American Vintage II 1973 Stratocaster replacement neck recreates the slimmer profile and distinctive hardware layout of an early-’70s Strat. The 1973 C shape measures 21.59 mm (.850”) at the first fret and 23.11 mm (.910”) at the twelfth, giving the neck a more streamlined feel than the substantial ’50s profiles.
Its round-laminated Rosewood fingerboard has a 184.1 mm (7.25”) radius and 21 vintage tall frets. The curved board supports comfortable chord work, while the taller fret wire provides useful clearance for bends and controlled vibrato. A Gloss Polyurethane finish, large ’70s-style headstock and Bullet truss rod complete the period-correct presentation.
The neck uses a three-bolt mounting pattern with Micro-Tilt adjustment, a 648 mm (25.5”) scale and a 42 mm (1.650”) bone nut. The pilot-cut nut slots require final filing, and neck-pocket fitting, fret work and a complete setup may also be necessary.
At Riffs & Licks Music, we think this replacement neck is best for players restoring or building a compatible ’70s-style Stratocaster and wanting the slimmer 1973 C profile, Rosewood board and three-bolt Micro-Tilt layout.
