Fender American Vintage II 1966 Jazzmaster RW Dakota Red
The Fender American Vintage II 1966 Jazzmaster RW, finished in Dakota Red, is part of the American Vintage II series. Much like its predecessor, the American Vintage series, the American Vintage II series revives some of the most revolutionary designs in the history of the electric guitar. Built with uncompromising detail and impeccable craftsmanship, this series features period-accurate bodies, necks and hardware, as well as some incredible finishes, and painstakingly voiced year-specific pickups. Each instrument captures the spirit of its namesake, and is a testament to authentic Fender craftsmanship and tone.
Designed to lure jazz guitarists away from hollow-bodies and into the solidbody sphere, the then-futuristic offset, with its comfortable contours, was about as opposite to a jazz-box as you could get. Unsurprisingly, this model was not a massive success with jazz players, but did quickly gain popularity with '60s surf rockers, and its popularity rose again later with indie-rock, alternative and country players.
This faithful tribute features a pair of Pure Vintage '66 Single-Coil Jazzmaster pickups with Rhythm and Lead circuits, a period-accurate Alder body with comfy contours, a period-accurate 1966 "C"-profile Maple neck, and round-laminated Rosewood fingerboard with 21 Vintage Tall frets. Other period-accurate features abound, like pearl block inlays, white neck binding, floating tremolo, adjustable bridge with threaded saddles, and single-line Fender Deluxe machineheads. An incredible Dakota Red Gloss Nitrocellulose Lacquer finish, with matching headstock, completes the vintage aesthetic, while a vintage-style black hard case with orange interior keeps your instrument protected in style.
At Riffs & Licks Music, we love the Fender American Vintage II 1966 Jazzmaster RW, in Dakota Red, for its incredible revival of a vintage classic - if you love the look, feel and tone of vintage instruments (but don't love their price tag), this is definitely one to consider.
