Drop-In Stratocaster Wiring With Dynamic Eric Johnson Pickup Voicing

The Fender Pre-Wired Stratocaster Pickguard with Eric Johnson Signature pickups is a right-handed SSS assembly designed for players who want a complete Stratocaster pickup and control upgrade without wiring each component from scratch. The 1-ply parchment pickguard comes loaded with aged white pickup covers, aged white controls, chrome hardware and passive CTS 250K controls.

The pickup set is voiced for slightly hotter output than typical vintage Stratocaster pickups while keeping a dynamic, balanced response. The neck pickup uses oversized Alnico 3 magnets for a clear, open sound, while the middle pickup is reverse wound to help cancel hum in the combined pickup positions. The bridge pickup uses Alnico 5 magnets and is voiced hotter, giving lead and rhythm tones extra push without losing top-end sparkle.

Formvar-coated magnet wire, staggered pole pieces, fibre bobbins and cloth-covered lead wire support a vintage-style construction approach. The 5-position blade switch provides the familiar Stratocaster pickup combinations, with master volume, neck tone and bridge tone controls for practical shaping.
