A Modernised SG with Longer-Scale Tension and Flexible Fluence Voicing

The Epiphone Prophecy SG in Obsidian Storm Satin takes the SG’s naturally accessible double-cut shape and gives it a distinctly modern specification. Its mahogany body is topped with a maple cap and highly flamed maple veneer, creating a more layered construction than a traditional SG while retaining the slim, upper-fret-friendly body style that makes the design so easy to move around.

The thermally aged one-piece maple neck uses a HyperGlide profile and graphite reinforcement, with a 647.7 mm (25.5") scale that adds a firmer feel under the fingers and better definition when tuning down. The bound ebony fingerboard uses a 254–355.6 mm (10"–14") compound radius, starting rounder for lower-position chord work and flattening out higher up for bends and faster lead playing. Twenty-four stainless-steel frets add a smooth, durable surface for players who spend plenty of time above the 12th fret.

Custom-voiced Fishman Fluence humbuckers give the Prophecy SG three distinct tonal directions, covering modern high-output active humbucker sounds, a more vintage PAF-inspired response and an optimised single-coil-inspired voice. The push/pull master volume and tone controls handle the pickup voicing changes, while the three-way toggle keeps pickup selection simple.

Grover Locking Rotomatic tuners, a GraphTech nut and LockTone Modern Tune-O-Matic bridge form the main hardware, while the through-body Frequensator-influenced tailpiece is designed to balance string tension and sustain. Posi-Lok strap buttons add extra security, and the black hardware, pickup covers and mother-of-pearl block inlays suit the dark Obsidian Storm Satin finish particularly well.
