An Extended-Scale SG Designed for Tight Response and Modern Versatility

The Epiphone Prophecy SG in Crimson Fog Satin takes the light, double-cut SG platform and reworks it around faster playing, lower tunings and broader tonal control. Its mahogany body is topped with a maple cap and highly flamed maple veneer, giving the familiar SG outline a more contemporary construction while retaining the easy upper-fret access that makes the shape so practical.

A thermally aged one-piece maple neck uses Epiphone’s HyperGlide profile and graphite reinforcement, with a 647.7 mm (25.5") scale adding extra string tension compared with a traditional SG setup. That firmer feel helps lower tunings stay defined under heavier picking. The bound ebony fingerboard uses a 254–355.6 mm (10"–14") compound radius and 24 stainless-steel frets, creating a progressively flatter playing surface as you move up the neck for bends and faster lead work.

Custom-voiced Fishman Fluence humbuckers provide three distinct tonal voices, ranging from a modern high-output active humbucker sound through a vintage PAF-inspired character to an optimised single-coil-inspired voice. Push/pull controls functionality on the master volume and tone controls accesses the pickup voicing options, while the three-way toggle handles neck, combined and bridge selection. That keeps the control layout relatively simple despite the wider tonal range.

Black Grover Locking Rotomatic tuners, a GraphTech nut and LockTone Modern Tune-O-Matic bridge form the main hardware package. The through-body Frequensator-influenced tailpiece is designed to balance string tension and sustain, while Posi-Lok strap buttons add extra security for stage use. Black hardware and black mother-of-pearl block inlays contrast sharply against the Crimson Fog Satin finish.

At Riffs & Licks Music, we think the Prophecy SG is a strong fit for players who like the upper-fret freedom and leaner feel of an SG but want a firmer 25.5" scale, stainless-steel frets and much broader pickup voicing than a traditional two-humbucker setup. A Protector Ultralite case is included.
