The Epiphone Inspired by Mastertone Bowtie Open-Back 5-String Banjo draws on Gibson Mastertone instruments from the 1950s and 1960s, particularly the distinctive Bowtie-era cosmetics. Its open-back construction makes it a natural fit for clawhammer and frailing, while still remaining suitable for Scruggs-style playing when you want a lighter, more open response than a resonator banjo.

A layered mahogany rim is paired with a brass hoop tone ring and an 11" Remo Fiberskyn head. That combination gives the banjo a warm, full-range character with strong note definition and added emphasis through the mids and lows. The notched nickel tension hoop is secured by 24 hooks, while a Turn of the Century-style tailpiece and five-string maple bridge with ebony cap complete the traditional hardware layout.

The satin-finished mahogany C-profile neck carries a bound Laurel fingerboard with 22 Narrow/Medium frets, mother-of-pearl Bowtie inlays and a Mastertone Block.
