EMG HET JH James Hetfield Signature Active Humbucker Pickup Set Short Shaft 10mm Sandblasted

Hetfield’s JH Active Set in a Limited 2026 Sandblasted Finish

The EMG JH James Hetfield Signature Set pairs the JH-N neck and JH-B bridge pickups in an active humbucker design built around strong attack, high output and controlled low-end response. The JH-N uses individual ceramic poles and taller bobbins with a larger core than the EMG 60 design, giving the neck position more attack, higher output and a fuller bottom end.

The JH-B bridge pickup uses the same core approach but switches to steel pole pieces rather than the bar magnets used in an EMG 81. This reduces inductance, helping the low end stay cleaner while retaining the tight attack associated with the JH bridge voice.

This short-shaft version uses 10 mm controls and is finished with custom sandblasted stainless-steel caps. The finish is exclusive to 2026 in celebration of EMG’s 50th anniversary. EMG’s Solderless Install System is included with two 25k Volume pots, two 25k Tone pots, battery bus, stereo output jack, two-pickup in/out bus, mounting hardware and all required connection cables.

At Riffs & Licks Music, we think this active humbucker set is ideal for players who want the JH set’s high-output response and controlled low end with short-shaft controls and a genuinely distinctive limited-edition finish.
