Classic 81/85 Active Tone with Long-Shaft Controls and the Original EMG Logo

The EMG 81 / 85 Original Logo 50th Anniversary Set revisits one of EMG’s classic active humbucker combinations for 2026. Finished in Black and carrying the original EMG logo, this limited anniversary version uses 19 mm long-shaft controls and includes the familiar 81 and 85 pairing.

In the traditional setup, the 81 sits at the bridge for a tight response, long sustain and strong high-end cut, while the 85 takes the neck position with a fuller clean sound and fluid lead response. EMG also encourages swapping their positions: the 85 can bring chunkier lows to the bridge, while the 81 gives the neck position a sharper, more searing lead voice.

EMG’s Solderless Install System is included with two 25k long-shaft Volume pots, two 25k long-shaft Tone pots, battery bus, stereo output jack, two-pickup in/out bus, mounting screws and springs, pickup cables, connect cables, output cable and battery cable.
