Nine Bass Voices from a Standard Electric Guitar
The Electro-Harmonix BASS9 Bass Machine is a digital synthesiser pedal that lets electric guitarists create bass parts without special pickups, MIDI or instrument modifications. Its polyphonic tracking is designed for one- to two-octave-down transposition, giving you bass-style response straight from a regular guitar signal.
Nine selectable sounds cover a wide range of bass roles, from Precision-style electric bass and Longhorn-style baritone tones through fretless, bowed bass, synth bass, TB-303-style lines and glitch-free sub-octave textures. Split Bass mode is especially useful for arranging, letting lower notes below F#3 act as bass while higher strings stay available for chords or melody.
Independent Effect and Dry volume controls let you balance the bass sound against your original guitar at the Effects output, while the always-active Dry output sends the input signal at unity gain. Controls 1 and 2 change specific parameters for each program, giving each voice more practical range.
At Riffs & Licks Music, we think this pedal is best for guitarists who want convincing bass parts, synth-bass textures and split-range creativity from one compact pedal.
