D'Addario NYXL Medium strings use an 11–49 gauge for players who prefer a little more tension and resistance under the fingers. The firmer feel is matched by increased volume, giving rhythm work and lead playing more physical feedback than a lighter electric set.

NYXL construction combines an NY Steel core with reformulated nickel-plated steel wrap wire for higher break strength and improved tuning stability compared with standard strings. Fusion Twist technology further helps the strings hold pitch, making the set well suited to players who put plenty of movement into bends and fretting.

The nickel-plated steel wrap also emphasises the midrange, adding extra presence and crunch so notes can cut through a mix more clearly. The strings are uncoated and round wound for a direct, familiar electric guitar feel, and are made in the USA at D'Addario's New York production facility.
