Flexible 10s Up Top with a Heavier 52-Gauge Low End

D'Addario EXL140 XL Nickel Wound strings use a 10–52 Light Top/Heavy Bottom gauge, pairing familiar-feeling treble strings with a heavier bass side. The 10-gauge top keeps bends and lead work comfortable, while the 52-gauge bottom adds more tension and a deeper low-end response for rhythm playing.

The wound strings use nickel-plated steel wrap wire over high-carbon steel Hex-Core construction. This gives the set the bright, versatile response associated with XL Nickel strings, with the heavier lower gauges adding extra weight without making the entire set feel stiff.

EXL140 strings are uncoated and round wound, keeping the attack direct and the feel familiar for players who prefer a traditional nickel-wound electric string. They are made in the USA at D'Addario's New York production facility.
