Responsive Redwood Tone with the Projection of a Dreadnought

The Cole Clark CCSFL1EC-RDM Studio Series pairs a solid A Grade Redwood top with solid A Grade Queensland Maple back and sides in a full-sized Dreadnought body. Redwood has a relatively low density and responds readily to a lighter touch, giving fingerpickers and soft-to-medium strummers plenty of resonance. Queensland Maple adds a comparatively neutral response with a little extra snap, making this combination well suited to both acoustic playing and amplification.

The African Mahogany neck has a 647.7 mm (25.5") scale, 304.8 mm (12") Rosewood fingerboard and 44 mm (1.73") Graph Tech Tusq nut. A Plek setup dresses the frets and cuts the nut under simulated string tension for consistent setup accuracy, while Spanish Heel construction continues the neck timber through the body joint rather than attaching it with a conventional bolt-on or dovetail joint.

The PG3mk2 system combines a strip piezo, contact sensor and microphone. Its crossover sends the lower frequencies to the piezo, brings the contact sensor through the mids and introduces the microphone above 6 kHz, helping the amplified sound retain more of the guitar’s natural acoustic detail. A Poly Satin finish, Rosewood bridge and grey Cole Clark heavy-duty gig bag are included.

At Riffs & Licks Music, we think this all-solid Dreadnought is best suited to fingerpickers and soft-to-medium strummers who want a responsive Redwood top, strong acoustic projection and a natural-sounding plugged-in setup; it is not intended for percussive playing or particularly heavy attack.
