All-Solid Blackwood Power with a Responsive PG3mk2 Pickup System

The Cole Clark CCSFL1EC-BLBL Studio Series is an all-solid cutaway dreadnought built with Australian Blackwood for the top, back and sides. Blackwood is a stiff Australian tonewood with a strong, even response and is particularly well suited to medium-to-hard playing and amplified performance. In the larger dreadnought format, it gives you a powerful acoustic foundation with plenty of headroom when you dig in.

The African Mahogany neck uses Cole Clark’s Spanish Heel construction, extending into the body rather than attaching as a separate conventional neck joint. A Rosewood fingerboard with a 304.8 mm (12") radius, 647.7 mm (25.5") scale and 44 mm (1.73") Graph Tech TUSQ nut provide familiar steel-string proportions, while each guitar receives a Plek fret dress and nut cut for precise fret and nut setup.

The PG3mk2 system combines a strip piezo, face sensor and microphone. The piezo handles the low frequencies, the face sensor takes over through the mids with a 350 Hz crossover, and the microphone enters at 6 kHz for the extreme highs. This spreads the amplified sound across three sensing methods rather than asking a single pickup to reproduce the whole guitar. Poly Satin finish, timber binding, an inlaid abalone rosette, abalone dot markers and Cole Clark machine heads complete the build. A heavy-duty Grey Cole Clark gig bag is included.
