Maton Guitars

For Maton guitars, we recommend The Guitar Centre at the Gabba (click here to shop all available Maton guitars)

Other than the occasional second-hand instrument, we don't currently stock Maton Guitars at Riffs & Licks Music, but our mates at The Guitar Centre at the Gabba carry a great range of Maton acoustic guitars. Their range includes popular Maton models from the SRS, 808, Messiah and other Australian-made collections, so if you've landed here looking for a Maton guitar for sale in Australia, they're well worth checking out.

If Australian-made acoustic guitars are what brought you to Maton, there are a couple of other names worth exploring too. We stock Cole Clark, another Australian guitar maker with a strong focus on native timbers, sustainability and stage-ready acoustic instruments. Our mates at The Guitar Centre at the Gabba also stock Fenech Guitars, which are made in Queensland and offer another distinctly Australian approach to acoustic guitar building.

About Maton

Maton Guitars are one of the great names in Australian guitar making. Founded in Melbourne in 1946, the family-owned company continues to handcraft its guitars in Box Hill, Victoria, combining decades of guitar-building experience with distinctly Australian materials and ideas. From the famous 808 body shape to full-sized dreadnoughts, Maton acoustics have become a familiar sight on stages in Australia and around the world.

Australian tonewoods are an important part of the Maton story, with timbers such as Queensland Maple, Tasmanian Blackwood and Bunya helping give the guitars their distinctive identity. Maton has a long history of exploring alternatives to traditional imported tonewoods, backed by a responsible timber sourcing programme and an ongoing focus on reducing waste and making more efficient use of its materials. For performing guitarists, Maton's own pickup systems are another major draw, with the AP5 Pro combining piezo and microphone signals to provide control over an amplified acoustic sound.
