Personal Monitor Mixing for Performers — Not a Conventional FOH Mixer

The Behringer P24 is a personal monitor mixer designed to let an individual musician control what they hear on stage or in the studio. Unlike a standard mixer, it is not intended to take all of your microphones and instruments and create the main PA or recording mix. Instead, it receives pre-routed stereo groups from a compatible console or StageConnect system, then lets you balance those feeds into your own headphone or in-ear monitor mix.

Twelve stereo groups plus one local stereo aux input are controlled directly from 13 dedicated 60 mm faders, so essentials such as vocals, drums, guitars and click can be balanced without menu diving. Each channel can operate in Stereo, Mono or Dual Mono, with Panorama and Tilt-EQ available for further adjustment. WING Reverb adds space to dry monitor feeds, while an adjustable limiter helps control monitoring level.

Built-in stereo ambience microphones can bring some room sound back into isolated in-ear monitoring, and StageTalk provides communication between performers, FOH and stage technicians. A separate dynamic microphone input and footswitch connection also support hands-free talkback.

StageConnect carries 24-bit, 44.1/48 kHz audio over XLR or DMX cabling, with DMX recommended for reliable runs up to 40 m (131.2 ft). Personal mixes can also be returned through the system for connection to wireless IEM transmitters, while the high-power headphone output can directly drive in-ears or headphones.

For larger systems, the optional P24HUB expands the setup by connecting and powering up to four P24 mixers directly, with a second P24 able to daisy-chain from each one for up to eight personal mixers per hub. It also provides 16 analogue TRS outputs, allowing the performers’ personal mixes to be routed to equipment such as wireless IEM transmitters. P24 mixers can still be daisy-chained without the hub, although additional DC power supplies are required as the chain grows.
