Acoustic-Style Resonance from Strings, Membranes and Tubes
The Behringer HALOS is a digital physical modelling resonator for Eurorack, designed to turn triggers, envelopes, noise and other source signals into resonant, acoustic-like textures. Its modal synthesis engine models the behaviour of vibrating strings, membranes and tubes, letting simple inputs take on the character of struck, plucked or resonating materials.
Three resonator modes cover Modal Resonator, Sympathetic Strings and Non-Linear/Dispersion Strings, while Frequency sets pitch and Structure changes the behaviour of the model itself. Damping controls how quickly the resonance decays, with Position and Brightness providing further control over how the resulting sound responds and develops.
HALOS supports pseudo-polyphony of up to four notes, allowing resonances to overlap rather than cutting each other off immediately. Key parameters also support high-resolution CV control up to 16-bit accuracy for detailed modulation from the rest of your modular system.
At Riffs & Licks Music, we think this physical modelling Eurorack module is ideal for modular users who want organic, resonant tones that sit somewhere between synthesis and acoustic instrumentation.
