Six-Voice Analogue Polyphony with Deep Modulation, Sequencing and Four FX Engines

The Behringer DEEPMIND 6X is a 37-key true analogue polyphonic synthesizer built around six voices, with two analogue oscillators, two LFOs and three ADSR envelopes available per voice. OSC 1 generates sawtooth and square/pulse waveforms with PWM, while OSC 2 provides square/pulse waves with tone modulation. Oscillator sync, detune, pan spread and drift let you move from tightly defined polyphonic sounds to broader, less uniform analogue textures.

Each voice feeds a selectable 12/24 dB analogue low-pass filter with adjustable resonance and tracking. A global variable 6 dB high-pass filter adds further control over the low end, with a +12 dB bass boost available when you want more weight. The three ADSR generators cover VCF, VCA and modulation duties, with continuously variable envelope curves and Legato, Mono and Retrigger modes. Envelopes can also be triggered by keys, LFOs or the control sequencer and looped into the audio range.

The two LFOs per voice offer seven waveform shapes, adjustable slew, modulation delay, key sync, MIDI sync, Delay and Fade In. Phase Link can align the polyphonic LFOs or offset their phase between voices, while key tracking through the modulation matrix opens up further cross-modulation-style effects. The eight-channel modulation matrix provides 19 sources and more than 130 destinations, including effects parameters.

A 32-step control sequencer can generate values from -127 to 127, with adjustable slew, swing and MIDI sync, and its output can be routed through the modulation matrix. The arpeggiator spans up to six octaves and includes 32 preset rhythmic patterns with up to 32 steps and rests, plus user-programmable patterns and multiple playback directions. Chord and PolyChord memory can store complex chords for single-key triggering.

Four simultaneous TC Electronic and Klark Teknik FX engines provide more than 30 algorithms including reverb, chorus, flanger, phaser, delay and multi-band distortion. True Bypass can remove the digital effects completely when you want the analogue signal path left untouched.

The 37 semi-weighted full-size keys provide velocity sensitivity and aftertouch, with three selectable velocity and aftertouch curves. Polyphonic portamento offers fixed-rate, fixed-time and exponential glide modes, while spring-loaded pitch and assignable modulation wheels give you immediate performance control.

DEEPMIND 6X stores up to 1024 user programs with Compare and Match for aligning the physical controls with stored patch values. Remote editing is available through iPad, PC and Mac apps over USB, MIDI or built-in WiFi, while connectivity includes servo-balanced stereo TRS outputs, headphones, Sustain, Pedal/CV, MIDI In/Out/Thru and USB MIDI. Comprehensive MIDI implementation includes NRPN/CC control and bulk load/save.
