Classic 1073-Style Gain Architecture in a Compact 500 Series Module
The Behringer 73 is a compact 500 Series microphone, line and instrument preamplifier based on the classic 1073 design. Its Class A all-discrete signal path is paired with custom-built Midas transformers on the input and output stages, giving you a transformer-balanced analogue front end for recording vocals, instruments and other sources.
An electronically controlled resistor-stepped Gain switch provides up to 80 dB of gain, making precise settings easy to repeat between sessions. The separate Trim control lets you fine-tune the level sent to your recording equipment, while the Gain control accommodates microphone, line and instrument inputs.
Illuminated controls provide Phase Invert, Hi/Lo Impedance and Front/Rear Input selection. Phantom power is integrated into the Trim control, with a dedicated LED and protective automated switching, while a signal indicator gives you quick visual level feedback.
At Riffs & Licks Music, we think this 500 Series microphone preamp is ideal for studios that want a compact, repeatable analogue front end with 80 dB of gain and transformer-balanced input and output stages.
