Alesis x Zildjian Nitro Ultimate 5-Piece Electronic Drum Kit w/ Zildjian Cymbals

Q1 - What is the Alesis x Zildjian Nitro Ultimate?

The Alesis x Zildjian Nitro Ultimate is a nine-piece electronic drum kit designed to bring more of the feel and playing techniques of an acoustic kit into your electronic setup. It features responsive dual-zone mesh drums, Zildjian-branded dual-zone cymbal pads, and a movable hi-hat that operates on a traditional hi-hat stand. The Nitro Ultimate module offers 52 factory and user kits with over 640 drum and percussion sounds, including authentic Zildjian cymbal samples. With Bluetooth audio, recording connectivity, and plenty of room to develop your technique, it's a versatile option for practising, playing along with music, and recording at home.

Q2 - Does the Alesis Nitro Ultimate feature genuine Zildjian cymbal sounds?

Yes. The Nitro Ultimate module includes authentic Zildjian cymbal samples, giving you access to the character of Zildjian cymbals without needing an acoustic setup. You also receive the Zildjian Session Mix Vol. 1 expansion for BFD Player, featuring detailed studio recordings of cymbals selected from the Zildjian Artist Vault. Connect your kit to a Mac or PC and you can trigger these additional sounds through BFD Player, expanding your cymbal options when playing or recording.

Q3 - Can I use a traditional hi-hat stand with the Alesis Nitro Ultimate?

Yes. The Nitro Ultimate features a 10-inch dual-zone hi-hat pad with a stand-mounted controller designed to work with a conventional hi-hat stand. Rather than relying on a separate foot controller, you can physically move the hi-hat cymbal using the stand's pedal, just as you would on an acoustic kit. This makes open and closed hi-hat patterns, foot chicks, and other hi-hat techniques feel more familiar when moving between acoustic and electronic drums. A hi-hat stand is required and available separately.

Q4 - Is the Alesis Nitro Ultimate suitable for beginners?

Absolutely. The Nitro Ultimate is a great option if you're starting out but want an electronic kit that will accommodate more advanced playing as your skills develop. The mesh heads provide a responsive playing surface with less acoustic noise, while the stand-mounted hi-hat helps you build foot control and techniques that translate naturally to an acoustic kit. Dual-zone drum pads also let you explore techniques such as rimshots, and the cymbals support choking for more expressive playing. Bluetooth audio makes practising with your favourite songs easy, and a 90-day Drumeo subscription provides structured lessons to help you progress.

Q5 - Is the Alesis Nitro Ultimate quiet enough for home practice?

Yes. The Nitro Ultimate uses mesh heads across the snare, toms, and bass drum tower, producing substantially less acoustic noise than a traditional drum kit while maintaining a responsive rebound under your sticks. Plug in a pair of headphones and you can hear your playing without running the kit through speakers, making it a practical choice for bedrooms, apartments, and shared living spaces. You'll still hear some physical impact noise from the pads and pedals, but overall playing volume is considerably lower than an acoustic kit.

Q6 - Can I play along with music on the Alesis Nitro Ultimate?

Yes. The Nitro Ultimate supports Bluetooth audio, allowing you to stream songs, backing tracks, and drum lessons from your phone or tablet directly through the drum module. There's also a 3.5 mm auxiliary input if you'd prefer a wired connection. Your music plays alongside the drum sounds through connected headphones or speakers, so you can practise grooves, learn new songs, and play along with your favourite recordings without needing a separate audio setup.

Q7 - Can I connect the Alesis Nitro Ultimate to a computer for recording?

Yes. Connect the Nitro Ultimate to a Mac or PC via USB MIDI and you can capture your performances as MIDI data in compatible recording software. This allows you to edit drum parts, adjust your performances, and trigger virtual drum instruments using the kit's pads. BFD Player is included with the Core Library, Dark Mahogany, and Zildjian Session Mix Vol. 1 expansions, giving you additional drum and cymbal sounds to explore. If you'd prefer to record the module's own sounds, two 6.35 mm TRS main outputs let you send the audio to an external audio interface or mixer.

Q8 - What is included with the Alesis x Zildjian Nitro Ultimate?

The Nitro Ultimate includes a 10-inch dual-zone mesh snare, three 8-inch dual-zone mesh toms, and an 8-inch mesh bass drum tower with a kick pedal. The cymbal setup consists of a 10-inch dual-zone hi-hat with a stand-mounted controller, a 10-inch dual-zone ride, and two 10-inch dual-zone crashes, with choking available on the ride and crashes. You also get the Nitro Ultimate sound module and a four-post steel rack to support the kit. Included software comprises BFD Player with the Core Library, Dark Mahogany, and Zildjian Session Mix Vol. 1 expansions, along with a 90-day Drumeo subscription. You'll need to supply your own compatible hi-hat stand, as this is sold separately.

Q9 - What are the differences between the Alesis Nitro Ultimate and Nitro Ultimate XL?

The biggest differences are the drum and cymbal sizes, along with the additional tom on the XL. The standard Nitro Ultimate features a 10-inch snare, three 8-inch toms, and 10-inch cymbal pads, while the Nitro Ultimate XL steps up to a 12-inch snare, four 10-inch toms, a 14-inch triple-zone ride, and two 12-inch crashes. These larger playing surfaces give you more room to move around the kit, while the extra tom expands your options for fills and kit arrangement. Both models share the same acoustic-style stand-mounted hi-hat approach, 52 factory and user kits, over 640 sounds, Bluetooth audio, authentic Zildjian cymbal samples, and included BFD Player software.
