The Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Bass PJ IV pairs a classic alder body with a super-thin caramelised maple speed neck for a tight, immediate response and fluid upper-register access. Alder delivers a balanced tonal platform with focused lows and clear upper mids, allowing the DiMarzio Model P and Model J pickups to speak with definition. The split Model P in the middle provides warm, weighty fundamentals with mid-range growl when pushed, while the Model J at the bridge adds articulation and attack for tighter, more modern voicing. The PJ layout expands tonal range beyond a single-pickup design by blending depth and clarity in real time.

The 12"–16" compound radius fingerboard flattens toward the heel, which lowers resistance during bends and faster passages. Jumbo frets and rolled edges create a smooth, low-effort feel across the neck. The active three-band EQ enables precise low, mid and high shaping, while the push/pull volume control bypasses the active circuit to maintain output even without battery power. A HiMass bridge and TUSQ XL nut increase sustain and note focus, reinforcing punch and tuning stability.
